V roku 1997 sme toto víno vytvorili ako poctu enológovi Giulioovi Gambelliovi, ktorý sa už desaťročia podieľal na vývoji ormanniho vína. Tento „super Tuscan“ sa rodí z vysoko kvalitného hrozna, nie celkom toskánskeho, ale veľmi „ormannovského“ štýlu. Víno Julius je výsledkom šťastnej zmesi hrozien Sangiovese, Merlot a Syrah pestovaných v Ormanni. Má tmavočervenú rubínovú farbu, intenzívnu a perzistentnú arómu, jemnú a mierne korenistú čerstvú chuť vďaka vyváženej kyslosti.

In 1997 we crafted this wine as a tribute to Giulio Gambelli, the oenologist who contributed to the development of Ormanni wines for decades. This “super Tuscan” is born from a high-level hand selection of grapes, not completely traditional Tuscan ones, but very “Ormannian” style. Julius wine is the result of a happy mixture of Sangiovese, Merlot and Syrah grapes grown at Ormanni’s. It has a dark red ruby colour, an intense and persistent aroma, delicate and slightly spiced fresh flavour thanks to its balanced acidity.

The 13th Century Ormanni estate is located in the heart of Chianti, between the towns of Poggibonsi and Castellina in Chianti. Proof of the heritage of this Tuscan property can be found in Dante Alighieri’s “Divina Commedia,” where the Ormanni family is mentioned. For the last 200 years the estate has been owned by the Brini Batacchi family, and it is Paolo Brini Batacchi and his daughter, Paola, who run the winery today. The Ormanni property covers an area of 242 ha of land, 68 of which are vineyards dedicated principally to the cultivation of Sangiovese. They also have two beautiful agriturismo resorts, Podere La Querce and Podere Montignano. The Ormanni Chianti and Chianti Classico are sincere, soil-driven wines, expressive of the Barberino Val d’Elsa area, where Sangiovese takes on a brooding, austere character, while still maintaining a generous, fruity core.
